Who is Jenelle?
Masters Degree Educated
I hold a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling with a focus on trauma and crisis care. My education combines clinical insight with biblical truth, equipping me to support clients through emotional, relational, and spiritual healing.
Licensed for Ministry
I am a licensed minister through both my local church and the North American Baptist Conference (NAB), trained to offer pastoral counseling through a biblical and ministry-based framework. While I am not a state-licensed therapist, my role allows me to provide Christ-centered emotional and spiritual support that is both compassionate and theologically grounded.
Wife, Mom, Friend
I’m not just a counselor — I’m a wife of 15 years, a mom to three incredible kids, and a friend who deeply values real conversation and God’s grace. I understand the mess and beauty of everyday life, and I bring that heart into the work I do with every client.
Get to Know My Heart & My Practice
Every counselor brings their own story, beliefs, and approach into the room…and it matters. Here is where you’ll find the three things that shape how I work: my personal journey of faith, my counseling philosophy, and my core theological convictions.
My Faith Story
I first heard about Jesus when I was five years old, sitting in a Bible Study Fellowship group my mom brought me to. I told the leaders that I wanted “Jesus in my heart,” and from that moment, faith was woven into my life. But like many, I grew up in the tension between knowing about God and needing to experience His presence in the middle of real-world pain.
By age 11, I found myself asking big theological questions about evil, free will, and salvation. I spent late nights reading Scripture, trying to understand how a good God fits into a broken world. A turning point came when I attended a youth event where Rachel Joy Scott’s mother spoke about the Columbine tragedy. I was deeply moved by the Holy Spirit, and my faith shifted from head knowledge to heart surrender.
Since then, Jesus has walked with me through seasons of adoption, infertility, grief, and trauma. My husband Andrew and I have fostered and adopted children, buried loved ones, and held on to God's goodness through joy and loss. I've learned that the gospel isn't just about eternal hope—it's also about deep, present healing.
This story fuels everything I do. I don’t counsel from theory—I counsel from testimony. My own healing journey keeps me grounded, and my faith in Christ keeps me going.
My Core Beliefs
I believe the Bible is the inspired, trustworthy Word of God and the foundation for all truth and healing.
I believe in one eternal God-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who created all things and is perfectly holy, loving, and just.
I believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived without sin, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and will return again.
I believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus alone, not by works, and that true belief transforms a person from the inside out.
I believe in the reality of heaven and hell, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the mission of the Church to make disciples and serve the world.
My Counseling Approach
I offer faith-based, trauma-informed counseling rooted in Scripture and guided by the Holy Spirit. I believe healing happens when we address the whole person…spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. My approach blends biblical truth with practical tools like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused strategies, and nervous system support.
I don’t diagnose or prescribe, but I encourage clients to care for their bodies through rest, nutrition, movement, and rhythms that support healing-not just spiritually, but physiologically.
I believe that a proper understanding of who God is, His character, His nearness, and His love, has a powerful effect on our mental and emotional health. When we see God rightly, we begin to see everything else more clearly.
My goal is to help people move toward freedom and wholeness by renewing their minds, processing pain honestly, and grounding their identity in Christ. I rely on the presence of the Holy Spirit in every session, trusting Him to bring comfort, conviction, and clarity.
